Article IV: The Legislature

Section I: The Legislature of the FFS will be known as the Federal Senate.

Section II: As the law making body, the Federal Senate has the power to write, pass, and abolish laws. It will serve as the representative body to the member nations of the FFS. Legislation must be presented to the Federal Senate for debate and vote.

Section III: The Federal Senate is to be composed of four [World Assembly] nations. These Federal Senators are to be elected by popular vote of the member nations of the FFS. Members will decide what seat in the Senate to run for as a candidate. All four seats must be filled.

Section IV: Federal Senators will serve a term of six months.

Section V: In order to eligible to run for Federal Senate, the nation must be a member of the FFS.

Section VI: The fifth vote in the Federal Senate is to be the Federal Chancellor.

Section VII: Laws must receive a supermajority to pass (60% or three-fifths).

Section VIII: The Federal Senate has the power to make a motion of no confidence for appointed officials in the Executive Branch, officers of the Armed Forces and the Federal Chancellor. A supermajority is required.

Section IX: The Federal Senate has the power to pass laws pertaining to or the duty to:
- Cultural additions such as the flag and others
- Impeach the Supreme Court Justice
- Declaring war
- Create peace
- Amendments to the constitution
- Establish procedure in elections
- Confirm appointed Supreme Court Justices, officers of the Armed Forces, and members of the Federal Chancellor’s cabinet
- Approve of treaties
- Pass amendments to the constitution with a four-fifths majority.

Section X: The members of the FFS may petition laws to the Federal Senate.

Section XI: The Federal Senate can override the Federal President’s veto with a four-fifths majority; the law is then enacted without the Federal President's signature.

Section XII: Legislation presented for vote must have a minimum voting period of 7 days, or 168 hours, in which the Federal Senate may debate the matter and cast their votes. The proposed legislation must be seconded to be put to vote. If it is not seconded, the Federal Chancellor may extend the voting period another 7 days.

Section XIII: If a Federal Senate Seat becomes vacant, through a Senator’s resignation or through a Senator being elected to the Federal Chancellorship, an election to fill the seat shall commence. The seats must be all occupied. The newly elected Federal Senator serves for the remainder of former Federal Senator’s term.

Section XIV: Upon enter the position of Federal Senator; they are to say the following oath of office.

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the Federation of Free States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. (So help me God.)”

So first any new names instead of Senate?

I would enjoy the name, House of Representatives or along the lines of that, but I am okay with it.
