Hello, I am People United Together, Delegate of Atrigeas. Please, call me PUT. I am here to entreat your region to join my region in a long established alliance for the benefit of mutual defense and general goodwill.
More specifically, Atrigeas is one of 17 regions in the Founderless Regions Alliance. Don't let the name mislead you, only 3 members are founderless. The name instead implies our mission to protect founderless regions, and to assist them if they wish to refound or acquire a password.
It is in the interest of Atrigeas to expand the FRA. Likewise, it would be in the interest of your region to join. The benefit is instant relations with 17 other regions, and a strong collective defense force known as the Rangers. It is possible to even acquire training and other resource in order to start a militia for your region.
There are hardly any tradeoffs, since the obligations required for membership are mutual defense, non-agreesion towards members, and two representatives from your region to the FRA. If you don't have a military to aid another member, then you aren't required to do so. Further, if you weren't planing on invading anyone, and don't mind sending two ambassadors to the FRA, then you can consider these obligations as precautions the FRA has taken in order to maintain peace and order, along with communication, between its members.
In order to futher explain the FRA's intended purpose, here is an except from its Charter:
"The Founderless Regions Alliance (FRA) is an organization founded upon the principles of sovereignty and freedom of all regions in NationStates. We endeavour to protect regions from the menace of aggression and imperialism and we pledge to work tirelessly to that end."
How to join: First, submit an application to the Regional Liaison Officer (RLO), which I can help you do. Then, send at least 2 representatives to discuss membership with the FRA's Regional Assembly (RA), for 4 to 7 days. The RA is then required to vote on your application. If you're accepted into the FRA, you are automatically obliged to uphold the Charter of the FRA.
Here are the official obligations as presented in the Charter:
Should a member region be subject to an unprovoked attack, all other members are obliged to aid its defense it if capable of doing so. Members, in an act of solidarity, renounce their right to declare a state of war or take aggression against another member or a region that the FRA is assisting.
Members must send two eligible representatives (reps) to the RA. These reps are members' official liaisons to the FRA. Each rep may cast one vote in the RA. Members can leave the FRA if one of their official reps announces their resignation from the FRA in the RA. Also, the RA may vote to expell a member.
